Many families face displacement from their homelands as a result of wars, persecution or unrest. They seek refuge to North America and Europe to seek asylum, fleeing the unfortunate circumstances in their homelands. Upon arrival, these refugees start new lives, try to adapt to their new environment. But, no one gives their parents a manual on how to raise your child in the West, away from the village that it took to raise a child back in their homelands. Many of these families feel a sense of loss, in some cases depression as a result of the physical and emotional displacement that they had to endure. Many of the children of these refugees become the translators for their parents, as they learn English in the school systems. However, many of these families are placed in low-income housing in areas with the worst schools and that are riddled with gangs, violence, drugs and alcohol. Many of these kids end up living dual identities. To be able to cope with their school environment, they must take on an identity that is acceptable to their mainstream environment, and they must maintain their traditional identity from their homeland so that they can please their parents. In many cases, these kids end up fall into the wrong crowd because they are seeking to be accepted by their peers. They don't feel accepted by their peers nor by their own culture. As a result, many of them end up falling into a sense of loss of identity and depression which leads them to self-medicate with drugs and create a false-sense of acceptance and belonging through gang-affiliations..
This is where the Knowledgeseekers Program comes in. We teach the youth their true identity as stewards of this world and prove to them that they have purpose through intellectual reasoning. We teach them the necessity of having a moral compass, and how to reconcile their feeling of lack of belonging. We build their character, teach them how to set-goals, how to be self-disciplined and how to become a servant leader.

This course focuses on self-actualization and decision-making.You will learn about how we think, why we do the things that we do and how to make the right decisions in life.
